Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has revised its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all users about the change.
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a different size category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to examine their items and manually change the size if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Earlier, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Another shopper, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
The app has more than 100 million users, with 18 million British users.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
