Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Fighters Table

Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces growing in power within the city.

Heads-up: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

Episode 3 ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of characters who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.

This warrior group features Teor (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

Given an extensive roster, it was clear from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

Hence, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Combat Party

As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented gameplay experience where diplomatic options are rare.

Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might appear out of place, but the actions of episode 3 show why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

For one thing, the group knows exactly where to head next after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the powerful objects to sell off.

Casimir then cleared his debts and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each member has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires vengeance.
  • Kattigan knows the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • Yet, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could assist the party access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Moreover, The grateful character vowed a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his salvation and will now accompany him anywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control the city for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • Tyranny and The cleric turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
  • The target is marked for death by the clan.

This means them little choice but to head to Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

From episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the combat party won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Explorers and Strategists parties.

Audiences can anticipate finding out which players will be where in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on October 24.
